Tick-tock, firefighters left in shock!

A training drill at Fire Station 67 in Ballarat City turned dangerous when the 20-year-old Ladder Platform’s front driver-side stabilizer started losing hydraulic pressure. The truck has been taken out of commission, and the ticking sound was a stark reminder of its deteriorating condition.

There is no reserve Ladder Platforms left in the state to cover this truck being offline. This now leaves Western Victoria on reduced capacity.

This isn’t the first time this aging vehicle has posed a safety risk. The dedicated mechanics have been working tirelessly to maintain this 5-year-past-its-service-life truck, but it’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with all the faults.

With the ongoing Fire Crisis in Victoria, our communities deserve better. We urge the Allan Government to prioritize the replacement of these outdated fire trucks to ensure the safety of our firefighters and the public.
