Broken Trucks, Broken System: Point Cook Firefighters Left Stranded

Firefighters at Point Cook Fire Station 58 are facing dangerous conditions due to repeated failures in their fire truck fleet.

Their Pumper has failed multiple times during critical fire calls—one of the most dangerous situations for any firefighter. Despite attempts to repair the truck, mechanics could not fix the fault. The only available spare fire truck was also deemed unsafe to use.

Crews are now left without a functioning fire truck, forcing a reshuffle of resources from other Melbourne areas, leaving those regions with reduced coverage.

As fire season begins, this is the state of our fleet after years of neglect and underfunding by the Labor Government. This Fire Crisis cannot be ignored any longer—lives are at risk.

It’s time for urgent action and proper investment in a rolling replacement program for fire trucks.
