Tonight at Fire Station 02 West Melbourne, firefighters discovered Pumper 02A wouldn’t start during a routine check. Thankfully, this happened in the station and not while responding to one of the many fire calls it attended earlier today.
Meanwhile, Pumper 02B was sent to cover Fire Station 58 in Point Cook, where their truck’s pump failed. With no spare fire trucks left in the state, our firefighters are being stretched to the limit.
As smoke drifts across Melbourne tonight, it’s a stark reminder of how dangerous failing fire trucks can be.
With temperatures spiking over Christmas, Victorians deserve better. When will Premier Allan take action to ensure a reliable fleet of fire trucks before tragedy strikes?
