In just the last 18 hours, fire trucks have failed across Victoria, exposing a system that is falling apart — and putting lives at risk.
At Footscray (FS47):
• Ladder Platform 47, used to rescue people from heights, broke down — leaving no rescue at height capability anywhere in Melbourne.
• Pumper 47 also failed — its firefighting water pump sheared off, making it incapable of fighting fires.
At Glen Iris (FS24):
• A firefighter climbing into the truck had the grab handle snap off in their hand while wearing full gear.
This morning, at Clayton (FS29):
• A transmission failure has left the truck blocking the driveway, unable to respond.
• It’s a decade past its service life — and should be removed from service.
This is NOT the fire service Victorians are paying for.
This is a Fire Crisis, and we are seeing the Breaking Point of Victoria’s fire trucks in real time.
Firefighters can no longer stay silent.
Their lives and yours are at risk and it needs to be fixed immediately!
