Today, the Aerial Pumper at Fire Station 78 Morwell has suffered a major failure and is offline. This isn’t just any fire truck — it provides specialist capability for the entire Latrobe Valley and is critical for protecting the coal mines that keep Victoria’s power running.
This truck was due for replacement early next year, but instead it’s being pushed beyond its service life because the Allan Government refuses to fund our fire services properly — even as Victorians are paying double through their emergency services tax.
When the funding isn’t there, the risks rise — for firefighters, for families, and for Victoria’s power supply.
