Three fire truck failures at one house fire

Yesterday in Dandenong, firefighters were put at serious risk when three fire trucks failed at the one house fire.

Crews arrived to find the home fully involved. As firefighters entered to search for occupants, their pump truck repeatedly went into fault mode and shut down — forcing a retreat and delaying water supply while another truck was brought in.

At the same time, the Ladder Platform being set up to attack from above suffered a hydraulic failure, slowly losing pressure and dangerously tilting mid-air before going into fault mode.

Then a third truck experienced an air system failure — affecting brakes, suspension and critical safety systems.

Three separate failures. One fire.

This is not the fire service Victorians are paying for.

Firefighters and the community deserve reliable, properly funded equipment — not excuses. The Allan Government cannot continue to ignore frontline safety while trucks fail on the fireground.

Victorians’ safety depends on it.
