After three separate mechanical failures in three days last week, their second truck has now suffered a firefighting pump seal failure and been deemed unsafe by mechanics.
Because the Fire Rescue Victoria workshop backlog is already overflowing, the truck is sitting in the station yard with no ETA for repairs — and there are no spare trucks anywhere to replace it.
Station 39 crews also crew FRV’s fire boats protecting the Port of Melbourne. The second truck ensures firefighters can respond to launch those vessels when needed.
With only one truck left, if crews are already at a job, the boats can’t deploy.
This is Victoria’s fire service under the Allan Government — ageing trucks, repeated failures, no spares, and frontline protection stretched to breaking point.
