Today Fire Station 61 Lara marked 15 years since their fire truck entered service — the age that Fire Rescue Victoria says a pumper should be retired because it can no longer be relied on in an emergency.
That makes it the 140th truck in FRV’s fleet past its service life — 66% of the entire fleet.
Firefighters have been warning the government that pushing trucks this far beyond their lifespan risks something catastrophic.
Yet the Jacinta Allan government continues gambling with Victorians’ lives while collecting record Emergency Services Tax.
Victorians are paying more — and getting a fire service with trucks that should already be retired.
