Tonight’s heavy rain has exposed another consequence of Victoria’s fire truck crisis.
Firefighters across Melbourne are reporting ageing fire trucks with failed air conditioning systems, leaving windscreens fogged up and visibility dangerously reduced while responding to emergencies.
This video shows West Melbourne’s Pumper 2B tonight, trying to navigate the city with a fogged up windscreen.
These trucks should have been replaced years ago. Instead, Victorians are paying twice as much Emergency Services Tax for an out of date fire service.
Premier Jacinta Allan and Emergency Services Minister Vicki Ward don’t have the foggiest idea how to protect Victorians.
