Earlier this week, FRV Commissioner Gavin Freeman reassured firefighters in a video message that the “spare appliance pool” was available to replace broken fire trucks across the state. But here’s the reality: that so-called pool has completely dried up.
When their truck broke down today Firefighters at Craigieburn’s Fire Station 80 were left cold calling stations across the state trying to find a spare truck, with no success.
This comes at the peak of summer when the fire crisis across Victoria is already at a dangerous boiling point.
It’s clear the Allan Government and Fire Rescue Victoria management must act urgently before this disaster becomes a tragedy.
