Fire truck crisis hits Dandenong — Fire Station 87, firefighters found during start-of-shift checks that their fire truck’s water pump was disengaging mid-operation and wouldn’t re-engage. If this had happened during a fire, it could have left firefighters — and the community — with no protection.
The truck’s roof monitor, critical for large-scale incidents like the recent Dandenong paint factory fire, is also out of action. With the truck now offline while mechanics try to repair it, Dandenong is left under capacity.
This is exactly the kind of dangerous failure exposed in the “Breaking Point” documentary — and it’s why firefighters could no longer stay silent.
Minister Vicki Ward must step in now and invest in Victoria’s fire service before these failures lead to tragedy.
