Communities across Victoria are being left at risk as Fire Rescue Victoria has run out of Spare Trucks to replace broken down ones.
A Truck stationed at Caroline Springs failed at a fire call overnight and this morning a Truck stationed at Melton has been taken offline.
Firefighters are emailing Stations across the State in a desperate bid to find a Spare Truck to protect their community and Firefighters.
Both Trucks are over 14 years old and due for replacement in accordance with FRV policy.
Yet due to a lack of planning and funding they will be patched up and put back on the road, leaving Firefighters questioning whether they will be fit for purpose at the next call out.
Victoria’s Fire Truck Crisis can no longer be ignored, it is time that Premier Jacinta Allan acts to reinstate a Rolling Replacement Program.
Communities across Victoria expect a World Class Fire Rescue Service, they pay for it via the Fire Services Levy. Yet, they are being left with a Service that is underfunded, under resourced and not fit for purpose.
