As we head into New Year’s Eve, key firefighting resources across Victoria are offline, leaving critical locations such as Ringwood, Dandenong, and Traralgon without the aerial appliances needed for structure fires and high reach rescues. These trucks, capable of operating at up to 42 metres in the air, are vital in emergencies and there are currently no replacements available.
2024 has been a year of crisis for fire services in Victoria. Communities have faced unprecedented risks due to outdated equipment and insufficient support. It’s time for the Allan government to step up in 2025 and deliver the modern, reliable fire service that Victorians deserve and pay for through the fire service levy.
We hope 2025 is the year of action, safety, and progress for all Victorians. Stay safe this New Year’s Eve, and thank you to all the firefighters working to protect our communities.
