Richmond Fire Truck Failure Delays Emergency Response!

In an emergency, every second counts — and delays can cost lives. Today in Richmond, tragedy was narrowly avoided, but the situation exposed just how vulnerable our community has become:

Just before noon, Richmond’s fire truck was taken out of service due to multiple faults.

Moments later, a call came in reporting smoke in a building — with a person possibly missing inside.

Richmond firefighters couldn’t respond because their truck was broken.

The nearest available trucks had to come from Brunswick and Northcote. They arrived, called in further support, and worked quickly to contain the incident.

Thankfully, the missing person was found safe.

This time, the outcome was lucky. Next time, it could be catastrophic.

Victoria is facing a fire crisis. Broken trucks and chronic underinvestment are putting firefighters and the community at risk.

How many close calls will it take before the State Labor Government acts and properly invests in our life-saving fire services?
