Fire Station 52 Tullamarine has been left without a grass-fire capable truck.
After their Pumper Tanker — essential for fighting grass and scrub fires in outer-metro areas — was forced five years past its replacement date and deemed unsafe by mechanics, it was taken out of service.
Instead of a like-for-like replacement, a truck not designed for grass and scrub fires has been shifted to the station.
This means Tullamarine is now relying on a truck unsuited to the risks faced in the outer-metro area.
Even worse, because so many fire trucks across Victoria are failing, there are no spare fire trucks available anywhere in FRV to properly replace it.
This is the direct result of ignored warnings and chronic underfunding by Jacinta Allan, Jaclyn Symes and Vicki Ward.
Victorians are paying twice as much in emergency services tax, yet fire service funding has been cut — despite repeated denials. Two government departments have already proven the Premier wrong.
