Wye River Flood Response Ends in Another Fire Truck Failure

Firefighters from Fire Station 61 (Lara) were deployed to the Wye River floods last night, using specialist hazmat equipment to assist with public decontamination after floodwaters swept through the community.

The crew returned the fire truck to station — only to discover this morning the transmission had catastrophically failed, spilling transmission fluid across the station floor like a crime scene. This fire truck is past its service life and out of date.

The real crime?

The Allan Government slashing fire service funding while charging Victorians up to twice as much through the Emergency Services tax.

This fire truck is out of date and is another example of why firefighters are now calling for a parliamentary inquiry.
