Marine Rescue Capability compromised as 19 year old Truck breaks down

.Marine Rescue Service was compromised yesterday, as a Truck dedicated to performing Marine Fire Rescue Service broke down on the West Gate Bridge after rendering assistance at a Truck Fire.

The 19-year-old Truck is crewed by Firefighters specifically trained in performing Marine Fire Services.

Had a fire occurred on a marine appliance whilst the Truck sat idle on the West Gate Bridge, Fire Rescue Victoria’s emergency capabilities would have been compromised.

This is yet another example of the Fire Truck crisis Victoria is experiencing. As we approach the High-Risk Weather Season, Firefighters and the Community are questioning whether Fire Rescue Victoria’s fleet will be able to provide emergency services when needed most.

The Allan Government have ignored warnings for years. The lack of planning and funding has left us relying on outdated, unsafe equipment, putting lives at risk.

The fire crisis is real—and it’s getting worse. Urgent action is needed.
