As Victoria braced for ‘uncontrollable’ fire conditions on Boxing Day, Fire Rescue Victoria’s Fleet was left flailing.
Following the breakdown of a Fire Truck whilst on strike team deployment to Halls Gap,critical time was lost as there were NO SPARE TRUCKS available and temperatures soared!
A “spare” Truck had to be sent from Derrimut to cover the broken down Truck, leaving the Western suburbs short of critical emergency resources on what is traditionally one of Victoria’s busiest days for traffic movement.
Of even greater concern was that the spare truck they sent is riddled with faults including a leaking Hose Reel, flow gauges not working, the monitor not shutting off immediately and a missing handle on the suction hose. This being the only available truck that can be sent away, despite being plagued with faults.
Victoria’s High Risk Weather Season has only just begun, yet our Fleet is failing at the first Test.
What will it take to have the Allan Labor Government acknowledge Victoria’s Fire Truck Crisis and Act before it’s too late??
