Right now, Fire Rescue Victoria’s fleet of ladder platform fire trucks is failing when we need them most.
Out of five strategically placed trucks in Melbourne, only two—Footscray and Oakleigh—are operational. The rest are down due to faults, leaving the community vulnerable. If a major fire breaks out today, our emergency services will be stretched to the limit, with no backup.
This is a system failure that’s putting Victorians and our firefighters at risk. The current government’s failure to act and invest in our fire trucks is a dangerous gamble. The Fire Service Levy must be used to replace these broken trucks and ensure a fleet that’s fit for purpose.
Victorians deserve better. It’s time to hold the government accountable and demand action to fix this fire crisis.
