Last night, firefighters at Fire Station 02 – West Melbourne went to start their fire truck at the beginning of shift… but it had suffered a major mechanical failure and had to be taken offline.
FRV’s overworked mechanics rushed out to assess it, but the truck was ultimately towed away.
This truck had been barely hanging on with a list of issues already — just one of many in FRV’s crumbling, outdated fleet. This is the real cost of the ongoing Fire Truck Crisis.
Is this really what Victorians pay their Fire Services Levy for?
90.85% of firefighters voted No Confidence in Commissioner Freeman — because they see the danger every day, and they’re being ignored.
It’s time for the Allan Government to act. Lives are at stake.
