Firefighters in Bendigo are still waiting for the replacement of a critical Breathing Apparatus Support Appliance almost two years after concerns were first raised.
In February 2025, crews were advised it would take around six weeks for a new appliance to arrive. We are now well into 2026 and the replacement has still not been delivered.
The Breathing Apparatus Support Appliance is a vital operational vehicle used at serious incidents to support firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and to help crews safely manage long and demanding emergencies.
This issue affects all firefighters who rely on properly resourced equipment to safely carry out their duties and protect the community.
In the Premier’s own home town of Bendigo, firefighters and the local community deserve answers, proper support, and delivery of the appliance that was promised.
