Crews from Melton responded to a car accident on the Western Freeway last night, but faced a series of setbacks:
Hose Reel Jammed: The off-side hose reel malfunctioned, delaying fire protection for the public and responders. Firefighters had to use a step ladder to fix it temporarily while working near moving traffic!
Pump Failure: The fire truck pump also failed to engage twice during the incident.
Missing Equipment: The truck was sent as a spare but lacked an extension ladder, requiring crews to scramble for a replacement.
Thankfully, no one was injured! But this incident highlights the importance of properly maintained fire equipment.
We need to ensure our firefighters have the working tools they need to keep our communities safe!
