Melton’s heavy rescue truck – out of date and door wont open

This essential Heavy Rescue Fire Truck, used in life-saving road crash and technical rescues, is out of date and plagued with issues that are compromising firefighter safety and efficiency.

At Fire Station 56 Melton, the truck’s driver’s door latch is broken, forcing firefighters to either leave the window open to reach in or climb across from the passenger side. This is just one of many problems with a truck that’s no longer fit for purpose and out of date.

With the Fire Service Levy increasing and no real improvements, Victorians are paying the price while their Fire Service crumbles.

Firefighters are rapidly losing faith in Commissioner Freeman’s ability to fix this growing Fire Crisis, and lives could be at risk because of it.

Victorians deserve better.
