New Premier – same fire truck failures

Last night, crews at Fire Station 68 Lucas were left without a fire truck after a failure.

There should be spare fire trucks ready to step in and keep communities protected. But there are no spare trucks left.

With 67% of Fire Rescue Victoria’s fleet beyond its service life, failures are happening constantly. Mechanics are working harder than ever and doing an incredible job, but they simply can’t keep up with the sheer number of ageing trucks breaking down.

More broken trucks. More crews left without fire trucks. More risk to firefighters and the community.

Victoria has a new Premier and a new Emergency Services Minister — but it’s the same Labor Government ignoring the failing fire services. Premier Ben Carroll and Minister Paul Edbrooke need to do what’s right.

Victorians deserve better. Firefighters deserve better. This is simply not good enough.
