At Fire Station 40 Laverton, our crews are working hard to protect our community, but they’re being let down by outdated and unreliable equipment.
Their usual Pumper Tanker, crucial for both structure and grass/scrub fires, has been offline for a MONTH waiting on a head gasket repair.
In its place, they’ve been given a 21-year-old pumper (6 years past its service life) that has a rear window stuck half open, requiring duct tape to keep it closed. It also leaks water from the pump, a known issue still waiting for repair.
Victorians fire service levy should ensure firefighters have safe, reliable trucks to do their job and protect our community. It’s time to prioritize their safety and yours.
