Fire Station 87 is running at half capacity, with both of its primary fire trucks out of service. The only available spare left in the state—a 15-year-old truck that should already have been replaced—has been sent to fill one of those spots.
There are no remaining spare trucks to cover the second missing Fire Truck, leaving Greater Dandenong vulnerable.
On a day of extreme fire risk, this lack of resources puts lives and property in danger. The government and FRV management continue to claim Victoria has a world-class fire service, but the reality tells a different story. Communities are being left without the resources they need in an emergency.
