Western Suburbs Fire Crisis – Urgent Action Needed

Fire Station 44 Sunshine is relying on a 25-year-old fire truck—a decade past its service life. This truck constantly breaks down, spends half its life off the road, and requires increased safety checks just to stay operational. It was back in service only 12 days ago, and it’s already failing again.

This isn’t about maintenance—this truck is simply too old to be reliable. Yet, FRV Commissioner Freeman claims there’s a “spare pool” of fire trucks. The truth? There is no replacement available.

Victoria is already under capacity for this type of fire truck, which is critical for structure fires and rapid rescues at heights.

Premier Allan must stop ignoring this crisis and ensure Victorians get the fire service they pay for through their levies. Lives depend on it.
