Wodonga has 19-year-old fire truck which should have been replaced 4 years ago.
Due to its age, it keeps breaking down — and every time it does, Wodonga FRV loses half its firefighting capacity.
The situation has become so desperate that Wodonga firefighters have had to meet crews from Caroline Springs in Euroa to collect the last remaining spare fire truck in Victoria.
Meanwhile, Wodonga firefighters have reached emergency incidents on time just 76% of the time this year — well below the 90% benchmark. Another example of why this capacity is needed.
Premier Ben Carroll says this is a new Government.
But for Victorian firefighters and the communities they protect, it’s the same ageing trucks, the same breakdowns and the same crisis.
“New” Labor Government. Same crisis.
