Fire Truck
crisis
The victorian emergency services levy
Every Victorian rate payer pays a fire levy, which should fund equipment updates.
But the Allan Government isn’t doing this, in fact it has announced the levy will double yet they will not provide extra funding for fire services reform and FRV equipment which is already underfunded.
This is untenable, downright wrong and is and is risking Firefighter’s ability to help the community, you and your family.
Help us hold the Allan Government accountable.
Public information Meetings April & May 2025
Your council rates currently include a fire levy that is meant to fund fire trucks and equipment to protect your family.
However, the Allan Government want to bring in a new tax – almost doubling the current fire levy.
This new tax will be funding existing services that your taxes already pay for. The Allan Government’s new tax is wrong.
You can stop this new tax.

SEND THE GOVERNMENT A MESSAGE
The Labor Government has failed to respond to requests from firefighters to replace outdated equipment. This is putting the community and firefighters at serious risk.
Fire Rescue Victoria Policy is that vehicles are to be replaced at a maximum of 15 years.
There are over 70 firetrucks which are so old they should be off the road including one truck which is over 30 years old. This is putting lives at serious risk.
Earlier this year Fire Rescue Victoria provided a formal submission to the Government requesting 20 new firetrucks to ensure the fleet is modern, safe and capable. They also identified 15 ageing trucks with heavy rescue capability for which there is no back-up if they break down.
The Allan Government ignored that submission, leaving firefighters with ageing equipment which puts the community and firefighters at risk.
